GroTV #75: Are There Many Paths To God?
Questions for Further Study:
1. Read today’s key verse in John 14:6. What statement did Jesus make about the only way to come to God? Is this the kind of statement an ordinary prophet might make? Did any other prominent religious leaders in history make this kind of statement? How would other religious groups view this kind of claim?
2. Look at John 7:10-18. Is Jesus simply just a “good man” as some said in verse 12? Could an ordinary man make the claims he made about his divinity as seen in John 8:56-58 or John 10:22-37 and still be both truthful and sane?
3. Why did Jesus not correct his followers when they made the following statements in Matthew 16:16 and John 20:28? Knowing what they did about Jesus, how did the disciples face their own future persecution and deaths?
4. People made other claims about Jesus in John 7:40-46. Now study the account in Luke 22:66-71. If Jesus was not the Christ then why did he respond the way he did to their accusations and continue meekly with the execution?
5. Read some of the demands Jesus made on those around him in Luke 18:22, Luke 14:25-27, Matthew 10:37-38 and Matthew 19:28-29. Why does Jesus seem to set such radical standards in these instances? Does Jesus ever require partial obedience or limited sacrifice in order to be his disciple?
